Open Market Homebuy - Availability
Is the Open Market Homebuy Scheme available to everybody?
Unfortunately this scheme is not available to all everyone. The open market homebuy scheme is subject to availability of government funding. This is announced each year and is prioritised. The priorities used vary between areas. Different areas have different amounts of funding allocated to them each year. The same basic principles however to people seeking to apply to each open market scheme. They must be:
• A council or housing association tenant
• On the housing register as a priority for a council or housing association property.
• A key worker working in the public sector
• A first time buyer who cannot afford to buy a property, as identified by the Regional Assemblies
• Living in a household with a total income under £60,000
